Koa
Meet Koa — Mama Luna’s Miracle Girl! 🐾
Status: Available for Pre-Adoption / On Hold
Age: 20 Weeks
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog / Catahoula / Staffy Mix
Size: Small to Medium Adult (Estimated)
Color: Tri-Color (Black, Tan, & White)
❤️ Her Story
Koa is a true miracle. As the last of Mama Luna’s pups to be born, she’s been a fighter from day one! Thanks to specialized care and a lot of love, she hasn't just survived—she is thriving. While she started as the most rambunctious of the litter, she has matured into a lovely, laid-back young lady who is currently the calmest of the three sisters.
✨ Personality & Training
Koa is a gentle, slightly timid soul who loves to observe before she jumps into the fun. Her "herding dog" intelligence makes her a joy to train!
Crate Training: Doing fantastic! She is quiet and comfortable in her crate when told to go in.
Commands: She is a great listener! She comes when called, knows when it’s time to head inside, and goes right into her pen on command.
House Training: Still a work in progress (as with all puppies!), but she is making great strides every day.
🏥 Health & Wellness Protocol
Koa is receiving the full New Bark City medical-grade care. Before she heads to her forever home, she will be:
Fully Vaccinated: Up to date on all age-appropriate shots.
Microchipped: For her safety and your peace of mind.
Spayed: Scheduled for her procedure very shortly.
Fully Vetted: Has received a comprehensive "clean bill of health" evaluation.
🏡 The Ideal Home
Because she is a bit more laid-back and timid, Koa would love a patient, loving family that can help her confidence continue to grow. She is a sweet, resilient girl ready to find her permanent place in the world!

LILLY
Meet Lily — The Cuddly Heartbreaker! 🐾
Status: Available for Pre-Adoption / On Hold
Age: 20 Weeks
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog / Catahoula / Staffy Mix
Size: Small to Medium Adult (Estimated)
Color: Beautiful Unique Markings (Tri-Color/Brindle Mix)
❤️ A Little Ray of Sunshine Lily is an absolutely gorgeous girl and a true heartbreaker! While she started off as the "yappy" one of the litter, she has matured beautifully and found her zen. She is easily the most affectionate and "clingy" of the three sisters—she thrives on attention, loves to be held, and is always ready to be the center of someone’s world.
✨ Personality & Play Lily is the "play leader" of the pack! If there’s a game of tug-of-war happening, Lily started it. She is always the first one to grab a toy and head into the fray.
Crate Training: Doing well! She’s learning to settle into her "place" and isn't complaining nearly as much.
Commands & Leash: Lily is our little "free spirit." She’s still perfecting her "come inside" and "get in your pen" commands. She’s also not a huge fan of the leash just yet, so she’d be happiest in a home with a fenced yard where she can zoom to her heart's content!
Social Life: She is great with other dogs and is cat-friendly!
🏥 Health & Transparency Lily is a healthy, thriving pup receiving medical-grade care. We believe in total transparency:
Umbilical Hernia: Lily was born with a small umbilical hernia. We are monitoring it closely with our vet, and if it hasn't closed on its own by her spay date, it will be professionally repaired during that same procedure.
Standard Vetting: She will be fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed prior to finalizing her adoption.
🏡 The Ideal Family Lily is the most "immature" of the girls, meaning she just needs a little extra direction and a lot of patience. She would thrive with a family that wants a playful, cuddly companion who will never leave their side.

Asta
Meet Asta — The Energetic Explorer! 🐾
Status: Available for Pre-Adoption / On Hold
Age: 20 Weeks
Breed: Australian Cattle Dog / Catahoula / Staffy Mix
Size: Small to Medium Adult (Estimated)
Color: Striking Mixed Markings
❤️ A Heart-of-Gold Fighter Asta is a bright, alert, and spirited young lady! While she started off as a bit independent, she has blossomed into a very loving, affectionate girl who is truly warming up to her "people." She’s a kind-hearted soul looking for a family to call her own.
✨ Personality & Play Asta is the definition of "playful"! She is at her absolute best when she has a job to do or a friend to play with.
The "Bowie" Bond: Her best friend at the rescue is Bowie (a 1-year-old hound), and they are inseparable! Asta would thrive in a home with another dog in the medium-sized range, ideally under 4 years old, so they can match her high energy level.
Kid-Friendly: Asta is a perfect match for a family with elementary-age children who want a puppy that actually wants to play all day!
The "No Cat" Rule: Asta is strictly NOT cat-friendly. She recently spent time in a foster-to-adopt home where it was confirmed that she cannot live with feline friends.
🎾 Training & Milestones * Intelligence: She’s arguably the smartest of her sisters—her "working dog" brain means she catches onto commands quickly!
Crate Training: Doing great! She’s learning her routine and handles her space well.
Activity Level: She needs interaction and mental stimulation. Whether it's another dog or active kids, she needs a "pack" to keep her busy.
🏥 Health & Wellness Protocol Asta is receiving the full New Bark City medical-grade care. Before she heads to her forever home, she will be:
Fully Vaccinated: Up to date on all age-appropriate shots.
Microchipped: For her safety and your peace of mind.
Spayed: Scheduled for her procedure shortly.
Fully Vetted: Has received a comprehensive "clean bill of health" evaluation.
🏡 The Ideal Home Asta needs a cat-free home with a fenced yard and plenty of action. If you have kids who want a playmate or a young dog looking for a best friend, Asta is your girl!

Lucy
Meet Lucy — Our Loyal, Soulful Resident Lead! 🐾
Status: Available for Adoption
Age: 1 Year, 7 Months
Breed Mix: Beagle / Hound Mix
Size: Medium (Muscular & Athletic)
Color: Classic Hound Markings
❤️ The New Bark City Transparency Promise
Lucy is our longest resident, and we are committed to finding her the perfect match—someone who understands her unique needs and can provide the stable, consistent environment she deserves.
✨ Her Story & Health (The Consistency Key)
Lucy is a resilient girl who previously struggled in a busy, overwhelming home.
Managed Health: Lucy has a history of stress-induced colitis. The "secret" to her health isn't expensive food—it's consistency. She has been episode-free since October because we stick to a steady routine.
Dietary Needs: She does perfectly well on accessible brands like Pure Balance (Walmart), 4health (Tractor Supply), or Purina One Plus. The rule is simple: no dyes and no sudden changes. She isn't a fan of the large-pellet chicken & rice formulas, but as long as you keep her on a consistent, dye-free diet, she thrives!
The "Safety Net": If she does have a rare flare-up, she responds quickly to a simple rice-topper and a standard vet-prescribed probiotic.
🏡 Personality & Home Life
Lucy is a "people person" through and through. She is calm, mellow, and chill once she settles in, but she definitely has her "Zoomie" moments!
Anxiety Management: Lucy has some separation anxiety and is a "redecorator" if left alone in a room for too long! Because of this, she thrives in her crate when you aren't home—it’s her safe space where she can relax without getting into trouble.
The "Pack": Lucy is a natural leader. She has a dominant play style and tends to be the alpha. She does great with other dogs her size (like her bestie, Piper!), but she does best with a submissive or equally athletic playmate.
Crate is Her Castle: We follow an "open door" policy while people are home so she can go in to relax on her own terms.
🏘️ The Ideal Home
Someone Home Often: Lucy would be happiest with an adopter who works from home, is retired, or has a very steady schedule where she isn't left alone for long stretches.
Fenced Yard: A must for those legendary Zoomies!
Patient Leadership: An adopter who understands that her anxiety is just a sign of how much she loves her pack.

Bowie
Bowie: The Valentine’s Miracle
Age: 1 Year (Born 1/9/25)
Gender: Male (Neutered/Microchipped)
Breed: Ibizian Hound Mix
Size: Medium
Status: In-Home Clinical Evaluation (Available Soon)
Overview
Story: Rescued on Valentine’s Day 2026, just minutes before a euthanasia order. Bowie had been returned to the shelter three times through no fault of his own. He was a "misunderstood puppy" labeled as a bite risk after a stressful incident with boundaries, but at New Bark City, we’ve seen nothing but a sweet, resilient soul. He is a white pup with a distinct ring around his right eye and adorable brown "cow spots" on his ear and belly.
Personality: High-energy, sensitive, and playful. He flinches at loud voices, suggesting a history of physical discipline, but he is learning to trust. He is a master of tug-of-war and a "Professional Shredder" of stuffies.
Training & Commands
Commands: Sit, Go to your room, Lay down, Come up, Outside/Inside.
House Training: Working on consistency; responds well to a structured schedule.
Temperament: Gentle but energetic. Takes treats with a very "soft mouth."
Ideal Prescription
Canine Companions: Dog Selective. He is "Power Pals" with Asta and loves Lucy and Piper (all spayed). He is less comfortable with intact males.
Feline Friends: Cat-friendly with "dog-savvy" cats like Baby. Not recommended for "swatter" cats.
Human Match: An active, patient family that uses Positive Reinforcement only. No loud-voice households. Best with a playful dog sibling to match his puppy energy.

Kira
🐾 New Bark City Courtesy Post: Meet Kira! 🐾Status: Currently in-home (Courtesy Post)
Breed: American Staffy
Age: 3 Years Old (March Birthday!)
Gender: Female
Kira is a beautiful, gentle soul who is looking for her new forever chapter. Her current family loves her dearly, but due to major life transitions, they want to ensure she gets the stability and focused attention she truly deserves.
Why You’ll Love Kira:
House & Crate Trained: Kira is a total lady in the home! She views her crate as her "safe space" and settles in beautifully.
Gentle with Kids: She has lived with an infant and is incredibly respectful and protective of her "tiny humans."
Smart & Obedient: She already knows "Sit," "Lay Down," and "Come." She is eager to please and ready to learn even more with her new family.
The "Sun-Bather": Kira’s favorite hobby? Finding a perfect sunny spot in the yard to soak up the rays.
Her Perfect Match:
Sensitive Soul: Kira has sensitive skin and a chicken allergy. She does best on a chicken-free diet to keep her tummy happy and her coat shiny.
Solo-Pet Potential: While Kira has been respectful around chickens and rabbits, she can be selective with other dogs. She would thrive best as an "only child" or with a very slow, structured introduction to a calm canine sibling.
Loyal Friend: She is a medium-energy girl who loves affection but can be a little cautious with new men at first. Give her a slow introduction, and she will be your most loyal best friend.

Poppy
Meet Poppy! 🐾
Status: ON HOLD (Adoption Pending)
Breed: Chiweenie (Chihuahua / Dachshund Mix)
Age: 8 Years (Senior)
Weight: Approximately 15–20 lbs
Color: Classic Black & Brown
His Story:
Poppy is a sweet, gentle soul who came to New Bark City after his lifelong person became ill and could no longer provide the care he needs. We are honored to step in and ensure this transition is as smooth as possible for him.
Health & Wellness:
Poppy is a "medical-grade" rescue case, which means he is getting the full New Bark City treatment! This week, he is scheduled for:
Full Vetting & Vaccinations: To get his health baseline established.
Comprehensive Bloodwork: A must-check before any further procedures.
Dental Evaluation: To keep that senior smile healthy.
Neutering: Pending his medical evaluation and bloodwork results.
Note to Adopters:
Poppy has already captured a family's heart and is currently ON HOLD pending his medical clearance. We aren't taking new applications for him at this time, but we wanted everyone to see this handsome boy's face and follow his journey to his new forever home!

Winny
Status: Available for Special Needs Adoption
Age: 2 Years, 7 Months (Approx.)
Gender: Female (Spayed)
Breed Mix: Bully Mix (White and Tan)
Vitals: Up-to-date on vaccinations | Microchipped
The New Bark City Transparency Promise
At New Bark City, transparency is key to a successful, loving home. We provide a 100% honest clinical and behavioral picture of every rescue in our care. Winnie is a "special soul" who requires a little extra TLC, and we are looking for a partner who is as committed to her comfort as we are.
Her Story
Winnie is a true survivor. Found abandoned, taken to a shelter, and failed by previous owners, she suffered from severe neglect before arriving at New Bark City. We have spent months stabilizing her medical needs so she can finally find the "forever" she deserves.
Personality & Home Life
Perfect Manners: 100% Potty Trained. Winnie has never had a single accident in our care, not even on her first day. She is very easygoing and quiet in the house.
Foodie at Heart: She is highly food-motivated, which makes training and administering her maintenance medication a breeze! While she loves her treats, she has excellent manners and does not beg at the table.
The "Slow Burn": Winnie is a laid-back, "chill" girl. She takes a moment to warm up to new people, but once she trusts you, she is deeply loyal.
Affection Style: She isn't a "velcro" dog. She is happy to sit at your feet or on the couch nearby. When she wants affection, she will come to you!
Social: Best as the only pet. She is selective with other dogs but is generally indifferent to cats.
Medical Management & Care
Winnie’s care is straightforward and manageable with a daily routine:
Allergy Management: She has chronic skin allergies and a severe flea sensitivity. She requires one daily pill (maintenance medication) and strict, year-round flea/heartworm prevention.
Ocular Care: She has "dry eye" in her right eye requiring simple drops twice daily.
Flare-Up Support: During seasonal changes, she may occasionally require a short course of inexpensive oral medication to keep her skin comfortable.
Appearance: Due to past neglect and previous lack of care, she has some permanent hair thinning that adds to her unique, resilient character.

Sadie
Sadie: The Port Richey Mystery
Overview & Story
Sadie was found wandering in the Port Richey area and was reportedly left in a parking lot. While she doesn't appear to have been on the streets for a long period, she arrived thin for her age and lacks the muscle mass she should have for her structure. Whether this is due to a lack of exercise or a previous medical condition, she is now in a safe place where her health is our top priority. We are actively looking for her original owners, but if they are not found, we will ensure she is fully restored before finding her a new forever loving family where she can spend the rest of her life.
Personality & Temperament
She is a friendly and loving "Quiet Observer." While she isn't quite ready for deep cuddling yet, she is settling in peacefully and showing a very gentle nature. She has shown positive curiosity toward other dogs and has successfully interacted with Buddy through the safety of her crate.
Clinical Recovery Plan
Nutritional Rehabilitation: She is currently eating very well and finishing every meal. We are focused on putting healthy weight on her using our specialized intake recipes.
Physical Therapy: Once she is through her initial decompression, we will begin a structured exercise program to help her build back the muscle tone in her legs.
-

Dora Bella
Dora Bella: Our Gentle 95 lb Work-in-Progress
Status: Under Assessment / Specialized Behavioral Decompression
Breed: Lab Mix (The "Big Bear" of the rescue)
Weight: 95 lbs
Her Journey
Dora Bella’s story is a heavy one. She was found tied up in a backyard after her previous family abruptly left the property. Because of this abandonment, Dora Bella carries a deep-seated fear that being outside means being left. To her, a kennel isn’t a cage—it’s the only place she feels safe and certain that she hasn't been forgotten.
The Work-in-Progress
We are currently working through her "Abandonment Issues" with a very slow, patient touch:
The Yard Challenge: Right now, Dora Bella only wants to be outside long enough to do her business. The moment she’s done, she heads straight back to the door. We are slowly showing her that the yard is a place for fun and that the door will always open for her to come back in.
Social Dynamics: She is Dog Selective. Because of her size and her need for security, she would thrive best as the only animal in a home. She needs to be the center of someone's world to truly feel secure.
The "Snack Helper": She has shown zero aggression toward smaller critters (even "helping" the cats clean up dropped food near their pen!), but we are still evaluating her direct one-on-one "cat-friendliness."
Founders Note
"Dora Bella is a soul worth waiting for. She is incredibly loving and just wants to be part of a home where she never has to worry about a backyard chain again. We aren't rushing her; we're letting her tell us when she’s ready. Keep your eyes on this big girl—she’s going to make a very loyal companion for the right person."

Luna
👑 Mama Luna - A Heroic Mom Seeking a Peaceful Haven
🌟 Mama Luna's Vital Snapshot
Detail
Status
Age: 2 Years Old
Sex: Female (Will be Spayed)
Breed: Beagle Hound Mix
Size: Small to Medium (Approx. 38–42 lbs)
Availability: Estimated April (Pending Heartworm Treatment Completion)
Adopter Required: Female-Only Household
💖 A True Rescue Hero
Meet Mama Luna, a sweet, stunning Beagle Hound mix with a heroic story. Luna was a heart-breaking euthanasia rescue—pregnant and facing a dire situation. We intervened, and Luna successfully delivered three beautiful pups! She is now weaning her final babies and preparing for the next chapter: finding her forever home.
Luna is spunky, sweet, and absolutely loves her treats and chew toys (though you'll need to keep the TV remote out of sight, she has a mischievous side!).
🩺 Health and Timeline
We are committed to making sure Luna is 100% healthy before she goes to her adoptive home.
Heartworm Positive: Luna is currently heartworm positive. The good news is that she will begin her full heartworm treatment process shortly after her pups are completely weaned (in the next week or two).
Availability: She will be spayed and fully vaccinated, microchipped, and licensed before adoption. We anticipate her being ready for pickup around April, once her treatment is successfully complete.
Pre-Adoption: We are happy to arrange meet-and-greets as early as March and can place a hold on her for the right family.
🏠 Luna's Ideal Safe Haven
Luna's requirements are specific, but vital for her long-term happiness:
Female-Only Home: Due to assumed past trauma, Luna is fearful of men and does not like them. She must be placed in a single-woman home or a household with only women. This is a non-negotiable requirement to ensure her safety and comfort.
Dog Companions: She gets along with most dogs but can be selective. We believe she will thrive most and feel safest as the only dog in the home.
Cats: She walks past our resident cats daily without issue, but new introductions should still be done cautiously.
➡️ Could You Be Luna's Confident Protector?
This resilient mom has shown incredible strength and loyalty. She deserves a peaceful, loving home where she can be cherished and protected. If you can offer Mama Luna a secure, female-led home, please reach out!

Buddy
🐾 Buddy: The Resilient Gentleman & Our "Bunny-Hop" Hero ⚓
Buddy is a Walker Hound whose life has been a journey through storms—both literal and emotional. His story is a testament to why New Bark City exists for the "hard cases."
A Journey Through the Storms 🌪️
Buddy survived the devastation of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. From there, he passed through multiple hands and homes where he just didn't "fit." He finally arrived at New Bark City to be rehomed—but our founder quickly saw what others had missed. Buddy wasn’t just a dog in need of a house; he was a senior soul in need of a hospital and a heart.
The Nurse’s Discovery 🩺
Our founder (a retired nurse) uncovered the truth: Buddy was much older than his records said. He arrived with severe dental decay (requiring full extractions), chronic bursitis, and legs so stiff he needs daily massages just to stand up.
His "Forever Harbor" ❤️
Buddy isn’t looking for a home anymore. We are his "Rock." Despite his hard life, he is the happiest soul—giving us "bunny hops" and a wagging tail every single day. He thrives on his "Cheese-Only" med protocol and a diet tailored for his toothless grin.
🎵 A Star in the Making: Buddy is even featured in our upcoming song, "No Reason" (coming soon to Spotify & Amazon Music!). When you hear the lyrics about our "Sweet Walker Hound," you’ll know exactly who we’re singing about.
Buddy will never be "put out" again. He is home, he is safe, and he is loved until the very end.

Trina
👑 The Queen’s Forever Harbor: Trina’s Story ❤️
When Trina first arrived at New Bark City, our hearts were full of hope. We saw a fighter who just needed a surgery and a "happily ever after" in a new home. We intended to be just a stepping stone.
But life had a different plan. 🐾
Due to unforeseen medical turns, the surgery that was supposed to be her "fix" is no longer possible. While this was a heavy realization, it led us to a beautiful promise: Trina doesn't have to look for a forever family anymore, because she is already home. ❤️⚓️
New Bark City has transitioned from her rescue to her Forever Harbor. She is now the heart of our Palliative Care Program.
Trina has a way of stealing hearts, but she stole the Founder's heart in a way that is hard to put into words. To honor that bond, our founder—a retired nurse who now spends her nights tending to Trina’s "up and down" struggles—couldn't help but write and sing a song specifically for her. This anthem was born out of a love for a dog that we just couldn't let go. 👑💖
🎵 Listen to the Queen's Song: You can hear this tribute dedicated to her on Facebook and Nextdoor, and soon on Spotify.
Trina isn't "unadoptable"—she is Home. Thank you for helping us give her the royal life she deserved all along.
