Blueberry Heartworm Clinic
Our Nursing Rescue Mission
Heartworm treatment is a high-stakes medical journey that requires more than just a series of injections; it requires a specialized nursing environment. At New Bark City, we manage the intensive "Fast-Kill" protocol with 24/7 monitoring. As a retired nurse, I have designed this wing to provide the "medical-grade" environment essential for these "Red-Listed" dogs to survive their recovery.
The Serenity & Stillness Protocol
While the recovery process requires strict confinement to a kennel for physical safety, we believe healing happens best in a state of peace. Each of our heartworm warriors resides in a private, climate-controlled suite designed to reduce stress:
Therapeutic Environment: Every room is equipped with television or calming music tailored to the individual dog’s mood to provide a sense of companionship and quiet distraction.
Medical Bathroom Breaks: Activity is strictly limited to short, leashed "business-only" bathroom breaks to ensure residents never overexert their hearts during the critical treatment window.
Nutritional Nursing & The New Bark City Cookbook
Maintaining a stable weight and high nutritional intake is critical while a dog’s body fights heartworm disease. Because our residents must remain inactive, we manage their diets with clinical precision using our proprietary New Bark City Cookbook:
Weight Management: We carefully monitor caloric intake to ensure residents maintain a healthy weight despite their strictly limited activity.
Specialized Recipes: From high-protein food toppers for appetite stimulation to hydrating "Tummy Tamer" ice drops, every meal is designed to support the immune system.
Stress-Free Medication: To ensure life-saving pills are never missed, we use custom-made "pill hiders" from our cookbook, ensuring medication time is a treat, not a chore.
How Your Support Saves a "Blueberry" Resident
$10: Funds a week of specialized nutritional meal toppers.
$40: Covers one round of essential pre-treatment antibiotics.
$100+: Directly funds the life-saving heartworm injections required to clear a dog's heart.
Nurse's Tip for the Page: When you upload your photos of the dogs in this wing, try to place them next to the "Serenity & Stillness" section so people can see how peaceful they look in their suites.
